Dr. Bernice A. King, daughter of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Dr. Susannah Heschel, daughter of Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel, and Rabbi Capers Funnye Jr., Chief Rabbi of the International Israelite Board of Rabbis will join together for a live, nationally streamed unity event convened by the Jewish Federation of New Mexico on Sunday, January 24, 2021 at 4 PM MST. In advance of the program attendees will have the opportunity to prescreen the film, “Shared Legacies,” about the crucial historical lessons of Black-Jewish cooperation, and participate in additional advance virtual educational opportunities. We look forward to Dr. King and Dr. Heschel weaving the story of their fathers' friendship and impact on social justice. Rabbi Funnye, as an African American rabbi, will guide the conversation and reflect on with how their legacy has affected Black-Jewish relations today with positive resolve for the future.
