Havdallah and Kiddush Levanah Outdoor Drive-in Ceremony

On Saturday eve, Motzei Shabbat, the Chavurah will co-sponsor with Congregation B’nai Israel a ceremony of reciting the Birkat Halvanah (the blessing on seeing a new moon), popularly referred to as Kiddush Levanah. This ritual provides the opportunity to offer gratitude to the Creator for the miracle of the regular patterns of creation. Weather permitting, we will observe this ancient Jewish custom in our cars in the parking lot of Congregation B’nai Israel. We will begin with Havdallah followed by the Kiddush Levanah. Copies of the blessing will be available. Please observe appropriate social distancing and wear masks. This event will take place only if the sky is clear and conditions are moderate to excellent.
